Veins of the rectum (Latin)

Veins of the rectum and canal analis (posterior view, sacrum removed). The three vv. anorectales (a.k.a. vv. rectales/haemorrhoidales) follow the same path as the arteries, draining into the corresponding vessels: v. mesenterica inferior, v. iliaca interna and v. pudenda interna. The vv. anorectales form a plexus venosus haemorrhoidalis which has a special clinical significance, as it can swell and present as different types of hemorrhoids.
