Veins of the forearm: Posterior view (Latin)

Veins of the forearm: Posterior view (Latin)

The v. cephalica and v. basilica originate from the rete venosum dorsale manus. Also rising from the medial aspect of the rete venosum dorsale is the v. cephalica accessoria. It courses in a superolateral direction to unite with the v. cephalica variably around the level of the elbow joint, when present. The vv. profundae antebrachii seen from this posterior view include the vv. interosseae posteriores, which arise from the rete venosum dorsale and drain to a collateral vein at the elbow joint.
