Thoracic surface of the diaphragm (Latin)

Thoracic surface of the diaphragm (Latin)

Cross section showing the facies thoracica of the diaphragma. The heart (cor) is located anterior to the oesophagus, aorta thoracica and vertebrae thoracicae. Each lung has a base resting on the diaphragma; the deviation of the apex cordis to the left is clearly visible as an indentation of the left lung known as the incisura cardiaca.
