Temporal bone (parts) (Latin)

The os temporale is situated on the sides and the base of the cranium and lateral to the lobus temporalis of the cerebrum. The image above shows the os temporale from a lateral perspective, which allows the appreciation of its main constituent parts. It consists of three distinct osseous segments which include the pars petrosa, pars squamosa and pars tympanica.
