Temporal bone (medial view) (Latin)

Temporal bone (medial view) (Latin)

The medial view of the os temporale provides a visual of its internal features. Some of these are formed by the imprinting of the passing intracranial structures, such as the sulcus arteriae meningeae mediae and sulcus sinus sigmoidei. We can also get a better appreciation of thecontours of the pars tympanica, that houses the structures of the middle and inner ear (aurus media/interna).The os temporale has three margins, which denote the bones it articulates with: margo sphenoidalis, margo parietalis and margo occipitalis.
