Superior view of the base of the skull (bones) (Latin)

The bones that comprise the base of the skull are the os frontale, os ethmoidale, os sphenoidale, os temporale and os occipitale. The os frontale and os sphenoidale, as well as a small part of os ethmoidale, join to form the fossa anterior cranii; the os sphenoidale and os temporale together form the fossa media cranii, while the os temporale and os occipitale form the fossa posterior cranii.
