Os ossos temporais se articulam com os ossos zigomáticos anteriormente, formando os arcos zigomáticos. Já o osso occipital ocupa a maior parte da porção posterior nesta vista inferior do crânio. O osso esfenoide pode ser identificado centralmente, articulando-se com a maxila (onde encontra-se a dentição superior) e o osso palatino, formando o palato duro.
