Podemos ver que existem vários ligamentos que reforçam a cápsula articular, estabilizando a articulação. São eles o ligamento coracoumeral e o ligamento transverso do úmero, que sustentam a articulação na parte superior, e os ligamentos glenoumerais superior, médio e inferior, que a sustentam na parte anteroinferior. Desse ponto de vista também podemos ver os músculos do manguito rotador convergindo para envolver a articulação do ombro; estes são os músculos supra-espinal, infra-espinal, redondo menor e subescapular.
