Medial view of the right lung (English)

Medial view of the right lung (English)

This perspective of the lung shows the anterior and inferior borders of the lung, as well as their medial and diaphragmatic surfaces. The medial surface of the right and left lung share many similar features, with the most prominent feature of the medial surface being the hilum. The hilum of the lung is a triangular section at the midpoint of each lung that serves as the only site of entrance or exit of structures associated with the lungs. Therefore, many structures are contained within the hilum, including neurovascular structures (pulmonary arteries and veins, bronchial arteries), lobar bronchi, bronchopulmonary lymph nodes and pulmonary ligaments.
