Medial view of the left lung (Latin)

Medial view of the left lung (Latin)

The facies medialis pulmonis dextri and facies medialis pulmonis sinistri share some similarities and therefore the previous caption also applies here. Prominent features unique to the pulmo sinister include the lingula pulmonis and the incisura cardiaca. The lingula is a tongue-like projection arising from the lobus superior pulmonis sinistri. It is formed by the two segmenta bronchopulmonalia lingula of the lobus superior pulmonis sinistri. Due to its positioning, the left lung presents with a concavity along its margo anteriorto accommodate the heart. This concavity is resultingly known as the incisura cardiaca. The most prominent impression seen on the facies medialis pulmonis is the impressio cardiaca.
