Main bones of the head (Latin)

Main bones of the head (Latin)

The neurocranium is made up of 8 bones which include (anterior to posterior): the os frontale, os ethmoidale, os sphenoidale, two ossa parietalia, two ossa temporalia, and the os occipitale. The facial skeleton (viscerocranium) is made up of 13 bones which include: two ossa nasalia, two ossa zygomatica, two maxillae, two os palatina, two ossa lacrimalia, two conchae nasales inferiores, and the vomer. Finally, we have the mandibula, which is technically not part of the viscerocranium, however is sometimes still counted as such by some texts. Also visible here are the three ossiculae auditus of the middle ear.
