Lymphatics of the head (Lateral) (Latin)
Lymphatics of the head (Lateral) (Latin)
The nodi lymphoidei capitis are generally divided into three separate groups: the nll. linguales, nll. faciales and a group of five lymph nodes which make up the circulus lymphaticus pericervicalis (visible in next image). The nll. linguales are located in the intermuscular spaces of the floor of the mouth and function to drain lymph from the lingua. Their efferent vessels drain to either the nll. cervicales laterales profundi superiores of the neck, nll. submandibulares and/or nll. submentales. The nll. faciales are located along the v. facialis and consist of the nll. bucinatorii, nll. nasolabiales, nl. malaris and nll. mandibulares. This group of lymph nodes drain the corresponding regions of the face into the nll. lymphoidei submandibulares.
