Ligaments of the foot (lateral view) (English)

The joints of the foot are supported by several plantar, dorsal and interosseous ligaments. From this lateral perspective, several notable ligaments can be identified:The lateral, anterior and interosseous talocalcaneal ligaments provide support to the subtalar joint, while dorsally, the transverse tarsal joint is supported by the calcaneonavicular and calcaneocuboid ligaments (which collectively are referred as the bifurcate ligament) as well as the talonavicular and dorsal calcaneocuboid ligaments. Several additional ligaments can be seen supporting the dorsal aspect of the joints of the midfoot and tarsometatarsal joints.
