Elbow joint sagittal view (Latin)

Elbow joint sagittal view (Latin)

The articulatio cubiti is enveloped in a capsula articularis composed of an outer fibrous layer and lined internally by a synovial membrane (membrana synovialis). During movement (flexion and extension), the fat pads (corpora adiposa) are pulled away by the tendinous attachments of the musculus brachialis and musculus triceps brachii to allow space for bony processes. Extension of the articulatio cubiti is facilitated by the bursa olecrani which serves as a lubricating component between the olecranon of the ulna and the overlying cutis.
