Contents of the mediastinum: Right lateral view (Latin)

The oesophagus courses longitudinally throughout the mediastinum, posterior to the trachea and bronchi principales and anteromedial to the v. azygos. The saccus pericardiacus can be seen anteriorly, with its contents and adjacent structures forming the pars media mediastinum inferius. Aa./vv. pericardiacophrenicae are also seen abutting the saccus pericardiacus.
