Arteries of the posterior thoracic wall (Latin)

The arteries supplying the oesophagus are aptly named ‘arteriae oesophageae’. They arise from the following vessels, each supplying a different part of the oesophagus:A. thyroidea inferior: branch of the truncus thyrocervicalis (of the a. subclavia), supplies the upper third of the oesophagus.Aorta thoracica: direct branches of this vessel supply the middle third of the esophagus.A. gastrica sinistra: branch of the truncus coeliacus, supplies the lower third/pars abdominalis of the oesophagus.
