Arteries of pterygopalatine fossa (Portuguese)

A principal artéria localizada na fossa pterigopalatina é a terceira parte (parte pterigopalatina) da artéria maxilar. Há muita variação anatômica no que diz respeito aos ramos dessa parte da artéria maxilar. Geralmente, ela emite as artérias palatina maior e alveolar superior posterior na fossa pterigopalatina, antes de se bifurcar nas artérias infraorbital e esfenopalatina. A artéria infraorbital entra na fissura orbital inferior anteriormente, enquanto a artéria esfenopalatina cursa medialmente para entrar no forame esfenopalatino. Vale a pena mencionar mais duas artérias: a artéria faríngea e a artéria do canal pterigóideo (artéria vidiana), ambas as quais cursam posteriormente para entrar, respectivamente, no canal palatovaginal e no canal pterigóideo (canal vidiano).
