Arteries of face and scalp (Lateral view) (English)

The maxillary artery gives off the infraorbital artery, that supplies the area between the eye and upper lip, the buccal artery, supplying the buccinator muscle and skin of the cheek, as well as the inferior alveolar artery, which gives off the mental artery to supply the chin. The scalp receives its vascular supply through branches of the external carotid artery: the posterior auricular, superficial temporal and occipital arteries.
