Anterior eyeball (English)
The opaque sclera lies just behind the translucent bulbar conjunctiva and provides an attachment site for the extrinsic and intrinsic muscles of the eye. Located on the inner portion of the anterior sclera at the iridocorneal angle is the venous sinus of sclera (canal of Schlemm), which collects aqueous humor from the anterior chamber of the eye, delivering it through a trabecular meshwork into the bloodstream. Forming the transparent part of the fibrous layer is the convex cornea. The junction at which the cornea and sclera meet is known as the corneoscleral junction.
