Superior view of the base of the skull (English)

There are many foramina, canals, sulci and other structures seen on the superior view of the base of the skull. The anterior cranial fossa features several landmarks, such as the cribriform foramina, foramen cecum, sphenoidal yoke and frontal crest. The middle cranial fossa contains a higher number of landmarks compared to the anterior cranial fossa e.g. clinoid processes, sella turcica, carotid sulcus, foramen ovale and trigeminal impression. The posterior cranial fossa features structures such as the clivus, foramen magnum, internal acoustic meatus, jugular foramen and hypoglossal canal.
