Superior view of the base of the skull (bones) (English)

The bones that comprise the base of the skull are the frontal, ethmoid, sphenoid, temporal and occipital bones. The frontal and sphenoid bone, as well as a small part of ethmoid bone, join to form the anterior cranial fossa; the sphenoid and temporal bones together form the middle cranial fossa, while the temporal and occipital bones form the posterior cranial fossa.
