Pancreatic duct system (Latin)

Pancreatic duct system (Latin)

The ductus pancreaticus major (ductus Wirsungi) arises from the cauda pancreatis. It extends to the caput pancreatis where it joins the ductus biliaris to form the ampulla hepatopancreatica (ampulla Vateri). It drains into the duodenum at the papilla major duodeni. On its course, the ductus pancreaticus major receives several tributaries, the ductus interlobulares. The smaller ductus pancreaticus accessorius arises at the caput pancreatis. It communicates with the ductus pancreaticus major at the collum pancreatis and empties into the duodenum at the papilla minor duodeni.
