Nerves of the thoracic wall (English)

Nerves of the thoracic wall (English)

The anterior rami of spinal nerves T1-T11 (a.k.a. 1st-11th thoracic nerves) form the intercostal nerves that course within the intercostal spaces. The anterior ramus of spinal nerve T12 (a.k.a. 12th thoracic nerve) forms the subcostal nerve that runs below the rib cage. The thoracic wall also receives innervation from the medial pectoral nerve and lateral pectoral nerve, which arise from the medial and lateral cords of the brachial plexus, respectively.
