O nervo nasociliar se origina do ramo oftálmico (NC V1) do trigêmeo e segue obliquamente na órbita. Ao longo de seu trajeto ele dá origem aos nervos ciliar longo (não visível), etmoidais anterior e posterior e infratroclear. O nervo nasociliar é responsável pela sensibilidade da pele do dorso do nariz, das pálpebras, da região medial da conjuntiva, das membranas das células etmoidais, do seio esfenoidal e de porções da cavidade nasal. Ele também transporta fibras sensitivas para a esclera, a córnea, a íris e o corpo ciliar através do gânglio ciliar.
