Meninges of the brain (superior view) (Latin)

Meninges of the brain (superior view) (Latin)

The most superficial of the meninges is the dura mater, in the middle is the arachnoid mater and the deepest is the pia mater. One of the sinus venosi durales, the sinus sagittalis superior, is located along the midline and drains into the confluens sinuum. On either side of the sinus sagittalis superior are lateral expansions within the dura mater referred to as the lacunae laterales. The arteria meningea media, a branch of the arteria maxillaris, provides the dominant supply of the dura mater cranialis. The venae superiores cerebri drain the superolateral/medial portion of each cerebral hemisphere.
