Female body surface anatomy - Anterior (Latin)

There are several types of landmarks found on the surface of the body. These include landmarks which correspond to the bones and soft tissue, as well as external organs of the body. This illustration summarizes the most important landmarks seen on the anterior view of the body. The major bony landmarks (superior to inferior) are the incisura jugularis sterni, clavicula, arcus costalis, spina iliaca anterior superior, and patella. Soft tissue landmarks shown in the illustration include the m. sternocleidomastoideus, m. deltoideus, m. biceps brachii, umbilicus, and mons pubis. The organs located on the anterior surface of the body are the breast (mamma) and areola mammae, as well as the organa genitalia externa. In addition, there are some clinically important areas seen on the anterior surface of the body are the fossa supraclavicularis, fossa cubitalis and the linea mammillaris.
