Liene Znotina

Bony pelvis (superior view) (Latin)

Bony pelvis (superior view) (Latin)

The pelvis ossea is divided into the pelvis major and and pelvis minor by the apertura superior pelvis. Posteriorly, the apertura superior pelvis is bounded by the promontorium sacralis and alae ossis sacri. The anterolateral borders are defined by a right and left linea terminalis, which are formed by the linea arcuata ossis ilium and pecten ossis pubis/crista pubica. The pelvis major is found superior to the apertura superior pelvis and contains the inferior parts of the abdominal organs. The pelvis minor is located between the apertura superior pelvis and apertura inferior pelvis, and it includes the intrapelvic urinary organs, internal reproductive organs and the perineum.
