Female perineum (Latin)

An overview of the borders and external features of the perineum feminina in the lithotomy position. The perineum feminina is bordered by the symphysis pubica anteriorly, by the rami ischiopubicus anterolaterally, the ligamenta sacrotuberale posterolaterally and the os sacrum and os coccygis posteriorly. Visible in this illustration is the surface anatomy of the female trigonum urogenitalis that is defined by the vulva. The vulva represents the organa genitalia feminina externa that include the mons pubis, labia majora, labia minora, clitoris, vestibulum vaginae, ostium vaginae and ostium externum urethrae. Posterior to the trigonum urogenitalis is the trigonum anale, containing the anus. Not visible in this illustration are the internal structures of the female perineum which include the urethra feminina, canalis vaginae, canalis analis, musculi perinei and fasciae.
