Dural venous sinuses - Sagittal section (Latin)
The sinus sagittalis superior is located superiorly in the midline and oriented in the sagittal plane. It extends from the foramen caecum ossis frontalis to the confluens sinuum where it merges with three major sinuses including the sinus rectus, sinus occipitalis and sinus transversus. The sinus sagittalis inferior runs parallel to the sinus sagittalis superior, along the free border of the falx cerebri. It terminates by merging with the v. magna cerebri to form the sinus rectus. The sinus transversus dexter and sinus transversus sinister are structures located in the tentorium cerebelli which drain into the sinus sigmoideus. The sinus sigmnoideus then passes through the foramen jugulare to drain into the vena jugularis interna.
