Cardiovascular system: Arteries of the upper part of the body (Latin)
All systemic arteries stem from the largest artery in the body, the aorta, which arises from the ventriculus sinister cordis. The arterial supply to the head and neck comes from the aa. carotides communes dexter et sinister, although the aa. subclaviae (which supply the upper limb) provide contributions as well. The blood supply to the chest wall and thoracic organs is largely derived from branches the aorta thoracica, however once again the aa. subclaviae also provide contribution.
