Bronchopulmonary segments (Left lung) (Latin)
Bronchopulmonary segments (Left lung) (Latin)
The left lung (pulmo sinister) is composed of 8-10 segmenta bronchopulmonalia (depending on classification) which can be identified from both medial and lateral views. Each segmentum bronchopulmonale has its own bronchus segmentalis and ramus segmentalis arteriae pulmonalis (of the same name). The lobus superior pulmonis sinistri is formed by four main segmenta bronchopulmonalia: the segmentum apicoposterius (1, 2), segmentum anterius (3), segmentum lingulare superius (4) and segmentum lingulare inferius (5) which are situated at the lingula pulmonis sinistri. The lobus inferior is composed of segmentum superius (6) and segmenta basalia. The latter are further divided into the segmentum basale anteromediale (7, 8), segmentum basale laterale (9) and segmentum basale posterius (10).
