The arteries supplying the esophagus are aptly named ‘esophageal arteries’. They arise from the following vessels, each supplying a different part of the esophagus:Inferior thyroid artery: branch of the thyrocervical trunk (of the subclavian artery), supplies the upper third of the esophagus.Thoracic aorta: direct branches of this vessel supply the middle third of the esophagus.Left gastric artery: branch of the celiac trunk, supplies the lower third/abdominal part of the esophagus.
