Anterior eyeball (Latin)
Anterior eyeball (Latin)
The opaque sclera lies just behind the translucent tunica conjunctiva bulbi oculi… and provides an attachment site for the extrinsic and intrinsic muscles of the eye. Located on the inner portion of the anterior sclera at the angulus iridocornealis is the sinus venosus sclerae (canal of Schlemm), which collects humor aquosus from the camera anterior of the eye, delivering it through a trabecular meshwork into the bloodstream. Forming the transparent part of the tunica fibrosa is the convex cornea. The junction at which the cornea and sclera meet is known as the limbus corneae.
