Venous drainage of the cerebellum is achieved through the v. superior cerebelli and v. inferior cerebelli, the v. cerebelli (v. precentralis cerebelli) and the v. petrosa. The vv. superiores cerebelli mainly drain the superior region of the cerebellum and empty into the sinus rectus, v. magna cerebri (Galeni) (see previous image), the sinus transversus and/or the sinus petrosus inferior. It is formed by the vv. inferiores cerebelli, also known as the vv. internae cerebelli and their tributaries drain blood from the inferior cerebellum into the right and left sinuum ​​sigmoideae, sinus petrosus inferior, sinus occipitalis and sinus rectus (see previous image). Venous drainage of the brainstem (truncus encephali) involves a superficial plexus of veins which drain blood from the mesencephalon, pons and medulla oblongata to the vv. vertebrales, vv. medullae spinalis, and the sinus transversus and sinus petrosus inferior, as well as into the v. basalis and v. magna cerebri (Galeni) (see previous images).
