The veins of the scalp are named by their arterial counterparts; the v. auricularis posterior, v. temporalis superficialis and v. temporalis media. These drain into the v. retromandibularis, which courses just posterior to the mandibula and anastomoses with the v. facialis prior to draining into the v. jugularis interna.
