Veins of the vertebral column (Latin)

Venae spinales form plexus venosi vertebrales interni and externi along the vertebral column. Each of these plexuses can be further divided into an anterior and a posterior plexus. Within the substantia trabecularis of the corpus vertebrae are the venae basivertebrales. These veins emerge on the posterior aspect of each corpus vertebrae and drain into the plexus venosus vertebralis internus anterior and the plexus venosus vertebralis externus anterior. The venae intervertebrales are located on the superior surface of pediculus arcus vertebrae of each vertebra and drain the medulla spinalis and plexi vertebrales. The venae intervertebrales travel through the foramina intervertebralia of the columna vertebralis to drain into the vena vertebralis of the neck and venae segmentales of the trunk.
