Nerves of the forearm: Posterior view (Latin)

The n. radialis divides into a r. superficialis and r. profundus just anterior to the epicondylus lateralis humeri. The r. superficialis descends along the anterior forearm curving around the radius between the mm. brachioradialis and pronator teres to enter the posterior distal third of the forearm. The r. profundus nervi radialis exits the fossa cubitalis and enters the posterior forearm by passing between the caput humerale/ulnare of the m. supinator. At this point it becomes known as the n. interosseus posterior. This nerve provides motor innervation to muscles of the posterior forearm. The n. cutaneus posterior antebrachii posterior arises from the n. radialis in the compartmentium posterius of the arm and descends distally to provide cutaneous innervation to the skin of the posterolateral forearm. Rr. posteriores of the n. cutaneus medialis/lateralis antebrachii also contribute to the cutaneous innervation of the posterior forearm.
