The facies interna of the ala ossis ilii features the large, concave fossa iliaca which provides attachment for the m. iliacus. It is limited inferiorly by the linea arcuata, which contributes to the apertura superior pelvis. Also visible is the medially facing facies sacropelvica, which bears the tuberositas iliaca as well as an ear-shaped facies auricularis for articulation with the os sacrum at the articulatio sacroiliaca. The incisura ischiadica major is found along the margo posterior ossis ilii/ischii. Moving inferiorly, the incisura ischiadica minor can be identified between the spina ischiadica and tuber ischiadicum. The os pubis is located anteriorly; its ramus superior extends laterally to meet the os ilium at the eminentia iliopubica. The medial, oval-shaped facies symphysialis ossis pubis is separated from its contralateral fellow by discus intrerpubicus, forming the symphysis pubica.
