Elbow joint (Latin)
Elbow joint (Latin)
The articulatio cubiti is made up of three joints including the articulatio humeroulnaris, articulatio humeroradialis and articulatio radioulnaris proximalis. The articulatio humerulnaris is the joint between the trochlea on the medial aspect of the distal end of the humerus and the incisura trochlearis on the proximal ulna. The articulatio humeroradialis is formed between the capitulum on the lateral aspect of the distal end of the humerus with the caput radii. The proximal ends of the radius and ulna articulate with each other at the articulatio radioulnaris proximalis. There are three main ligamenta that support the articulatio cubiti: the lig. collaterale ulnare, lig. collaterale radiale and lig. anulare radii. The ligamenta collateralia are each made up of three compartment parts: -Lig. collaterale ulnare: lig. obliquum anterior, lig. obliquum posterior and lig. transversum (Cooper's ligament). -Lig. collaterale radiale: lig. anulare, lig. collaterale radiale laterale and ligamentum collaterale ulnare laterale.
