Arteries of the large intestine (Latin)
Arteries of the large intestine (Latin)
The large intestine (intestinum crassum) is supplied mainly by branches of the a. mesenterica superior, a. mesenterica inferior and a. iliaca interna. The a. mesenterica superior supplies the caecum, colon ascendens and a part of the colon transversum. The. a mesenterica inferior supplies the terminal part of the colon transversum, the colon descendens and the superior part of rectum. The branches of these arteries anastomose close to the large intestine, forming the a. marginalis coli.
