Universal Numbering System (deciduous teeth) (Latin)

The Universal Numbering System for the dentes decidui/primi follows the same pattern as with the dentes permanentes, however the uppercase letters A - T are used instead of numbers. The dens molaris secundus dexter maxillaris receives the letter ‘A’ then the alphabet runs through the arcus dentalis maxillaris until reaching the dens molaris secundus sinister maxillaris which receives the letter ‘J’. Regarding the arcus dentalis mandibularis, the dens molaris secundus sinister mandibularis receives the letter ‘K’ with the alphabet continuing across the arcus dentalis mandibularis until reaching the dens molaris secundus dexter mandibularis which receives the letter ‘T’. Alternatively, the dentes decidui are sometimes notated by the numbers 1-20 with a lowercase ‘d’ added to indicate a dens deciduus (Woelfel system).
