Flexors of the forearm (English headings) (Latin)
Flexors of the forearm (English headings) (Latin)
The anterior musculi of the antebrachium are divided into two parts- the pars superficialis/profunda. The pars superficialis includes the m. pronator teres, m. flexor carpi radialis, m. flexor ulnaris carpi, m. palmaris longus and m. flexor superficialis digitorum. Most of these muscles are shown on the left side, except for the m. flexor ulnaris carpi, which is shown on the right. The pars profunda of the anterior antebrachium includes the m. flexor profundus digitorum, m. flexor longus pollicis and m. pronator quadratus, which are seen on the right. Also visible are the bones of the arm (brachium), forearm (antebrachium) and hand (manus), which provide the attachments for the muscles. Although the m. brachioradialis is present in this image, it does not belong to the musculi antebrachii. Functionally it is a flexor or the articulatio cubiti, however, based on its location, it belongs to the par superficialis of compartmentii posterioris antebrachii and is covered in the corresponding study unit.
