Alphanumeric Notation (permanent teeth) (Latin)
Alphanumeric Notation (permanent teeth) (Latin)
This notation again uses the numbers 1-8 to notate the tooth position, coupled with a pair of letters to denote the quadrant (upper right = UR, upper left = UL, lower right = LR, lower left = LL) As an example of this notation, the dens molaris secundus sinister mandibularis is represented by ‘LL7’, ('LL' meaning lower left, and the number ‘7’ indicates this tooth as the 7th from the midline). This notation method has become increasingly popular as a replacement to the Palmer system due to the fact that it can be recorded via a keyboard (a limitation of Palmer notation).
